We had a wonderful Staggered Start week in 2nd Grade!! It was SO good to finally be back in the building so we can learn, play and grow together! Our classroom friends finally got to see one another again in person... and we couldn't be any happier!! The joy on my sweet student's faces and the excitement in their voices makes this decision to come back in the building an incredible one. We are wearing our masks, washing our hands often and social distancing as much as possible so we can stay safe in school. Our students know the importance of staying safe so we can stay in school!!
Here are some awesome things we did this week--
We begin each day by unpacking, eating breakfast and completing our morning work. Then, we gather on the rug for Morning Meeting, the South Morning Shoutout and our Pledge of Allegiance. This week, we have been talking about empathy. We have practiced showing empathy for others by putting ourselves in other people's shoes. Our class knows how to spread kindness and being empathetic to others around us.
We worked on our sequencing skills as we sequenced how to wash our hands and how to put on our masks. Decorating our own disposable mask was super fun, as was working on our mask craft together.
In Math, we continued working on our addition and subtraction strategies when adding double digit numbers. Our students are getting better and better with using base ten blocks, open number lines and decomposing in order to solve math problems. They are so smart!!
Spending time outside on the playground for recess was super fun for everyone! Our class rotates to a new location each day and does not mix with other classes (in order to stay as social distanced and safe as possible). We love playing on Big Foot, Little Foot, Big Blue and the blacktop! Recess is always a favorite!!
So far, second grade has been awesome! We have the best class in the school and know we are going to have the BEST YEAR EVER!
